We were approached by a client in Crowthorne who needed to completely rethink their existing bathroom. The layout and features no longer suited their needs - an unused jacuzzi bathtub, a cramped shower enclosure, and a partition wall made the space feel closed off and impractical. The client wanted something more accessible, easier to maintain, and better suited to how they lived day-to-day - while still delivering a premium, modern finish.
They also requested the inclusion of a bidet beside the toilet, and improved storage that wouldn’t compromise the clean lines of the space. With that in mind, we set out to create a more open, seamless layout, using high-end materials and carefully considered design to bring function and luxury together.
Location: Crowthorne, UK
Project Type: Full bathroom refurbishment with accessibility improvements
Key Requirements:
Challenges:
Opening Up the Space:
We began by removing the jacuzzi bath, the enclosed shower cubicle, and the partition wall that was dividing the room. This immediately created a more open-plan feel and gave us the space to design a more fluid layout - allowing natural light to move freely throughout the room and giving the client far greater accessibility.
Flush-Fit Walk-In Shower:
To deliver a clean, unobtrusive showering space, we installed an 1800mm low-profile wet room tray, carefully set level with the surrounding floor tiles. This gave the client a walk-in shower experience with no steps or lips, contributing to both ease of use and a seamless look across the floor area. The large size of the tray created a spacious showering zone, offering the feel of a wet room while keeping water contained.
Elegant, Integrated Units:
To maintain clean lines and maximise usability, we installed a full-width bathroom worktop that housed the basin, toilet, and bidet - all enclosed within a single continuous run of cabinetry. This not only added useful storage but also created a sleek, uninterrupted finish that concealed pipework and fixtures. The full-width approach makes the room feel larger and more cohesive, avoiding the disjointed look of standalone fittings.
Premium Tile Finishes:
For the walls, we used large format Porcelanosa marble-effect ceramic tiles in 45x120cm - offering a luxurious, polished look with minimal grout lines. These brought texture and elegance to the room without overpowering the space. On the floor, we laid durable porcelain tiles in a complementary tone, giving excellent grip and easy maintenance while tying the design together beautifully.
The transformation was substantial - turning a closed-in, outdated bathroom into a spacious, light-filled retreat that is practical for daily use while still feeling luxurious. The walk-in shower offers both comfort and accessibility, the integrated units give the room a calm, uncluttered appearance, and the high-end finishes deliver the sense of quality the client was looking for.
Every decision, from tile choice to layout, was made with the client’s comfort and future use in mind. The final result is a bathroom that not only looks exceptional but works brilliantly - now and for years to come.
"The difference is night and day. The bathroom feels bigger, brighter, and far easier to use. The walk-in shower is exactly what I needed, and the finish throughout is fantastic. Everything has been thought through so well - I’m really pleased with the result."
