COMMON QUESTIONS

Bathroom Renovation FAQs

These are the questions we get asked most often. If there's something we haven't covered, get in touch and we're happy to help.

How long does a full bathroom renovation take?
Most full bathroom renovations take between 7 and 12 working days, depending on the size of the room, the complexity of the layout, and whether any structural or plumbing changes are needed. A straightforward like-for-like replacement will be quicker. A project that involves moving the toilet or shower to a different position, or installing a wet room, will take longer. We'll give you a clear timeline before any work starts.
How much does a bathroom renovation cost?
It depends on the scope of work and the products you choose. A full renovation including strip-out, plumbing, electrics, tiling and installation of new sanitaryware (excluding supply) typically starts from around £6,000 - £8,000 for a standard bathroom, but can be more for larger spaces, wet rooms, or high-end finishes. We provide a detailed written quote after a home visit so you know exactly what's included before you commit.
Can you replace a bath with a walk-in shower?
Yes - this is one of the most common jobs we do. In most cases the existing plumbing can be adapted without major changes, and removing a bath frees up a surprising amount of floor space. We install low-profile and level-access shower trays with glass screens, or fully waterproofed wet room floors depending on the layout and your preference.
What's the difference between a wet room and a walk-in shower?
A walk-in shower uses a shower tray (usually low-profile or level-access) with a glass screen and drains into the tray. A wet room has no tray at all - the entire floor is waterproofed and tiled with a gradient that drains into a floor-level gully. Wet rooms give a more open, seamless look and are ideal for accessibility, but they require more preparation and waterproofing. We install both and can advise on which suits your space better.
Do I need building regulations approval for a wet room?
Not usually for a straightforward wet room installation in an existing bathroom. However, if the work involves changes to the electrical layout or structural alterations, building regulations may apply. We make sure all our installations meet the relevant standards and our electricians are qualified to self-certify their work where required.
Can you move the toilet or shower to a different position?
In most cases, yes. Moving a toilet requires extending or rerouting the soil pipe, which is more involved than moving a shower or basin. It depends on where the existing waste runs and how much room there is beneath the floor. We assess this during the home visit and will let you know what's achievable and whether any additional work is needed.
What tiles do you recommend for bathrooms?
We almost always recommend porcelain tiles for bathrooms floors. They're harder and more water-resistant than ceramic, they're available in a wide range of finishes including stone and wood effects, and they hold up well in wet environments. For wall tiling, ceramic is absolutely fine. For wet room and shower floors specifically, we use tiles with appropriate slip ratings. We're happy to advise on tile choices or work with tiles you've already selected.
Do you handle the plumbing and electrics?
We manage the entire installation. For plumbing and electrical work, we bring in qualified specialists we've worked with for years. This means every trade is handled by someone experienced and certified in that area. You don't need to arrange separate tradespeople - we coordinate everything.
What happens to my bathroom while the work is being done?
The old bathroom is stripped out on day one, so you won't have use of it during the renovation. If it's your only bathroom, we'll discuss the timeline with you in advance so you can plan around it. We work efficiently to minimise the disruption and keep the area clean and contained throughout.
Do you offer a guarantee on your work?
Yes. All our installation work is guaranteed. Sanitaryware and products carry their own manufacturer warranties. If anything isn't right after completion, we come back and sort it out - that's straightforward.
What areas do you cover?
We're based in Binfield and work across Wokingham, Crowthorne, Bracknell, Ascot, Winkfield, Hurst, Wargrave, and surrounding areas in Berkshire.
How do I get started?
The first step is a home visit. We come to your property, look at the existing bathroom, take measurements, and talk through what you'd like to change. There's no obligation and no charge. From there we provide a detailed written quote. Give us a call on 07967 308510 or fill out the form on our contact page.
